Puggie Wuggles!
Posted on January 16th, 2010 No commentsI really like painting pugs- those flat faces and big eyes are so decorative. They remind me of the bubble eyed gold fish I have always admired, another Asian creation. This guy was painted for the winner of a raffle to benefit Mid Atlantic Pug Rescue.

Happy New Year!
Posted on January 2nd, 2010 No commentsTime to set myself down here and post something. Yes, I have been busy painting, but since many of my recent commissions were holiday gifts, I didn’t feel at liberty to post them until after Christmas. So I have some catch-up to do. Here is one I did back in November of a dog named Gwen- imagine that! For this one, I was asked to create a background that had a fifties pop modern mood. Since the client liked certain paintings of mine, I combined a few of the elements he specified.

Mega Pixel
Posted on September 24th, 2009 1 commentIt is been a busy and stressful time lately, but I did manage to complete this portrait of my beloved Pixel girl. It is a large painting- 22′” x 28″, and just the nose (by which I mean the actual nose, not the whole snout) measures over 8″. The effect is kind of monumental, which is in turn comic, because the actual Pixelina is just a wee squirt of a thing. But large of heart!

Beautiful Sophie
Posted on September 3rd, 2009 No commentsBeautiful Sophie went from this world some months back. She is sorely missed by her human mom, Jane, who asked me to paint her portrait. Sophie liked to sit beside the backyard pond, so I have pictured her with water lilies and a dragon fly. Run free, Lovely girl. Your people hold you in their hearts.

Save a Sato
Posted on September 2nd, 2009 No commentsWhat is a sato? That’s the slang term for a Puerto Rican street dog. Unfortunately the streets of Puerto Rico teem with unfortunate dogs, doomed to lives of slow starvation or violent death. Working to help is a wonderful organization called Save a Sato, which arranges for these dogs to be brought to the United States and adopted. It makes me happy just thinking about it.
If you would like to help a Sato in need, and possibly win a portrait of your dog painted by yours truly, you can buy tickets now through Oct. 15th on the Save a Sato website: -
